I’m a member of NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses). It is a generally libertarian oriented business association/lobbying group. They have an active presence in Vermont, and have been busy this year with health care, opposing gas tax increase, and other issues. U.S. public school districts spent an average of $8,287 per student in 2004. Vermont spending was $11,128 per student — 34% higher than the national average — ranking the third most expensive state education system in the nation.
